The Heart That Built Two Movements: The Relaunch Story of For The Youth & For The People

In a world that often forgets the power of compassion, one woman made it her life’s work to build a space where people felt seen, safe, and inspired to grow. She was the founder of For The Youth and For The People — two entities born from the same heartbeat. A heartbeat that echoed through community rooms, studio walls, classrooms, and sidewalk conversations. A heartbeat that still beats, even though hers was silenced too soon.

She was one of the most influential and impactful voices of her era — not because she sought attention, but because she gave it. To everyone. To the overlooked. To the misdirected. To the kids who didn’t have the words yet to explain their dreams. To the single mothers with untapped talent. To the creators who just needed one shot, one space, one believer.

She believed in the kind of love that builds systems — love that organizes, that fundraises, that stays after the lights go out to clean the floor. She built For The Youth to ensure that young people had access to opportunity and mentorship in the very same neighborhoods that once tried to swallow her potential whole. And she built For The People so that local talent, beauty professionals, creatives, and hustlers could finally have a space that felt like theirs — not borrowed, not judged, but rooted in ownership.

Even in her quietest moments, when the pain of cancer tried to dim her light, she chose creation. She chose to pour her energy into something that would outlive her body. She understood that true impact is eternal.

Today, we honor her not by mourning her absence, but by relaunching her vision with even more fire, focus, and faith.

We keep her vision alive with every class we teach, every workshop we host, every chair we rent, every stage we open, and with every child who walks through the doors of For The People! We remind them that they matter and that they belong because she made sure of it. Her name is etched in every wall, whispered in every “thank you,” and reflected in the smiles of every soul transformed in this space.

We are her legacy. We are her love. We are For The Youth. We are For The People.

Urgent Call to Action: Help Us Save Our Youth Facility

"WE SEE UNITY"

At For The People Inc., we believe that youth are not just the future—they are the present. Through our nonprofit, For The Youth (501c3), we’ve spent nearly a decade empowering young people across Hampton Roads, Richmond, and surrounding communities with safe spaces, creative outlets, and life-changing skills in music, arts, and leadership.

Today, we face a critical moment. The unexpected passing of our beloved founder and CEO, Mrs. Laniqua “Queen” Taylor, has left us at risk of losing the very building that houses our meetings, youth programs, and community events. This is no ordinary facility. Queen personally designed its blueprints with love and vision, ensuring every space could meet the needs of our youth. Our building includes:

  • A photography studio
  • A podcast room
  • A music recording studio
  • A salon for hair, nails, and makeup
  • A stage and multipurpose space for classes, workshops, and performances

Unless we raise $40,000 by September 1, 2025, we risk losing the heartbeat of our movement: the facility our children and families rely on.

About For The People Inc.

Since 2016, our mission has been clear: to invest in the next generation by providing education, mentorship, and opportunity. At our facility, young people gain both creative skills and life skills:

  • Arts & Media: music engineering, production, DJing, videography, podcasting, photography, social media management.
  • Beauty & Fashion: modeling, cosmetology (hair, nails, makeup, barbering), fashion design.
  • Leadership & Education: tutoring, business plan development, entrepreneurship training.
  • Trade Therapy: carpentry, painting, landscaping, plumbing, and more, taught as both skill-building and healing.
  • Family Engagement: monthly book clubs, movie nights, and financial literacy workshops for children and parents.

Every program is built on our belief that no child should be denied opportunities because of financial barriers.

Our Programs and Impact

  • Youth Arts Camps & After-School Programs – Weekly classes in music, production, photography, and leadership.
  • Life Skills Training – Self-confidence, financial literacy, conflict resolution, and entrepreneurship.
  • Community Feeding Initiatives – Annual “Feed the People” events providing meals and resources to local families.
  • Low-Cost/No-Cost Access – Scholarships and sponsorships so every child—especially in low-income families—can participate.

Why We Need You Now

We are at risk of losing the very foundation of our programs—our production and community facility. Without it, youth will lose access to safe space, mentorship, and the tools they need to thrive.

To keep our doors open, we must raise $40,000 by September 1, 2025.

Together, we can achieve this goal!
